Janome Horizon

No, I am not buying it. Just drooling over it and very curious! Right now I am sewing on my Mom's Janome 6500 (she uses on her Grace) and I am happy I bought the Baby Lock Espire. My machine just does some things that the Janome doesn't do. Like tell me when the bobbin is almost out, the threader is way easier on the BL, and there is a foot up and down button on my machine. I also hate the Janome extension table. Mine does not budge at all and actually snaps in, but the Janome's extension table slides over easily when you are sewing and there is a gap between the extension table and the machine which gets annoying.
I DO love the way the Janome free motion quilts and sews though! It really does sew like a dream! It just doesn't have all the gadgets my machine has.
So I am very curious to see what changes they made on the Janome Horizon. I do know the price tag is higher than what I paid for my Espire, but I still love Janome's and I always will! Someday maybe I will have one of each :)
Of course I have to find a dealer to go and take a look soon. If anyone is getting it or has seen it I would love to know what you think? So far all I know that is improved is the dial to select stiches and the longer neck which is now 11 inches. I would love the 11 inch neck but don't really care about the dial too much. I also love how it looks, so pretty!

Frolic!

As seen in my previous post, I purchased some Moda Frolic (actually my mom purchased some Moda Frolic) this weekend. Well I couldn't wait to cut it all up. I plan on making Wonky Stars with this and I have made 5 so far and they are so cute! I only used half of my fat quarters so I still have some fabric for another project. I did use the whole 2 yards of solid though. Not a surprise.
I just love how neat the stack looks all cut up and ready for piecing! This is really going to be an adorable quilt.

I really love the Frolic line, it is so whimsical. My only complaint is not being able to find any of the birds or owls that they have on the panel. I love the panel that comes with this line but really I never use panels in quilting!

Mod Sampler

I told you I finished a lot this weekend. Of course this is not totally finished yet. I still have to quilt and bind it but the top is done! I really love it too. I used Moda Blush and a tutorial from Oh Fransson! It turned out awesome and so much prettier in person. My mom didn't care for the white sashing but when I got it all together I think she changed her mind a little bit. It just looks perfect. I already know how I am going to quilt this. I just need to rack it up on the grace and "get 'er done"

I am trying to decide how I want to back it. Should I use flannel or cotton?
So I still have lots of things to work on this month. My mom has a few quilts that she wants me to quilt while I am here too so I guess that's my next big to do for now. I think there are about 4 quilts on my list to quilt so I should be pretty busy. Hopefully I can work on my wonky stars quilt a little too while I am here.

New Stash equals happy quilter!

I am collecting Black, White and Gray fabric for something special. I can't wait to work on this quilt and this is what I have so far. I am trying to stay very modern with this project. I think I know what I want to make with this already.
I am also beginning a Red, White, and Aqua stash for a quilt I want to make. I'm not sure of the pattern I want for this yet.
This is some fabric that I also love! It is so cute! I plan on making a wonky star quilt with these. I can see it now! I plan to use the stripe in the binding, of course! Where else would I use it! :)

Finished Quilt for Kids quilts

Finally finished these quilts. It only took me forever to do them. When you aren't interested in the quilts it seems to take forever to finish them. The first quilt is from some purple scraps I had in my stash that I figured I would probably never use for my own quilts so why not give it to someone who loves purple. So conveniently names "Purple Surprise". Hopefully it will go so a young girl and she will love it.
I used another strip of squares on the back of the quilt so that it would give it some more character.
I just wrote out the label instead of typing them.
This is "Around the Rink" made from the fabric sent to me when I ordered my kit from Quilt for Kids. It is hockey gear, perfect for a boy who loves hockey. Finished and will be sent soon. The back is just a blue stripe fabric, not much to show there.
As for my health, if some of you are wondering, I am fine now and past everything. Thanks for you thoughts and prayer. I am back to quilting and I really got a lot done this weekend :) More to come!!

Been MIA

Sorry bloggers :)
I am still alive but have been battling some health issues and I am taking a few days off to get back on my feet. Don't know many details right now and I am playing the waiting game but I pray for a good outcome each and every day.
Any thoughts and prayers are much appreciated at this point in time. I hope to return to my quilting very soon as I miss it and find myself very bored.
I just wanted to update everyone.
Love each and every one of you!
Thank you!!

Bee blocks finished!

I finished my bee blocks for the month and I hope they like them. For my Pretty in Pink bee we were supposed to make wonky stars. I pieced the centers to make them look even more wonky, I hope that she loves them!!
Also, my second bee is Sew 2 Speak and we were supposed to make wonky houses so here are my two wonky houses. I just started to put pieces together and really didn't do much pre-planning so I hope they are up to snuff!!!

The links to the bee's are lo0cated in the right side of my blog if you are interested in looking.

Short Vacation

Some of you may know that I am visiting family in Michigan. I will be here for a couple months but plan on keeping up with my quilting and blogging.
I have a few projects that I plan to work on. I have two block of the months to work on and my mother has some quilts that she wants me to quilt. I also have to quilt my two charity quilts.
I also want to work on my Moda Blush quilt that I started. I have all the pieces cut and have about half of the blocks pieced so far.
I am also hoping to work on my hand applique a little bit.

Basically I want to finish a lot of my UFO's this month so we will see how much I get accomplished!
